Announcing the launch of OverDrive Media Console, version 3.0!

Overdrive and Greenwich Library are happy to announce the release of OverDrive Media Console version 3.0! While you can continue to enjoy OverDrive WMA Audiobooks on older versions of OverDrive Media Console, and our technology partner OverDrive happily continue to support previous versions, we encourage users to upgrade to enjoy the enhancements added in this release.

What's New in OMC v3.0?

The most exciting and noteworthy changes are as follows...

In response to the overwhelmingly positive feedback OverDrive received on their Transfer Wizard, they have added a Burn Wizard to OverDrive Media Console v3.0. With OMC v3.0, you no longer need to launch Windows Media Player to burn to CD. Instead, in just a few clicks, you can burn WMA audio titles (for those titles with permission) through OMC. Clicking the 'Burn' button launches the OMC Burn Wizard, which guides you through this simple and straightforward burn process.

The OMC Burn Wizard splits OverDrive's Parts into tracks (based on MediaMarkers), allowing you to more easily navigate content you have burned.

As announced and covered in the press, OverDrive is working to offer support for Audiobooks in the MP3 format. OMC v3.0 supports OverDrive MP3 Audiobooks. This means that when OverDrive MP3 Audiobooks (which are compatible with iPods) are made available to libraries (coming Summer 2008), Windows users who have already installed OMC v3.0 will be able to use titles in this format. Users of older versions of OMC will need to upgrade to OMC v3.0 to use OverDrive MP3 Audiobooks.
